The Charity has contracted professional biologists to survey the wildlife on the land it owns behind The Hectare, Walden Way and Hobsons Acre, as well as on the allotments between More’s Meadow and Davey Crescent.

In particular, we will be sampling reptiles, notably common lizard and grass snake, a process which involves catching and counting the animals within fenced off areas. Our neighbours and visitors will notice low fencing being erected for this purpose during February and March; this is temporary and will be removed once the survey is complete.

Footpaths will remain open at all times with access via The Hectare, More’s Meadow and Bridge Close, as well as via the railway footbridge.

We are funding this initiative in support of the planning application we recently submitted to South Cambridgeshire District Council for an extension to More’s Meadow. Details of our plans can be found here on our website.
