On a cold clear November day the charity directors met with 7 volunteers to further integrate the new almshouses with the meadow.
A new sapling hedge provided by The Woodland Trust was added and seven new Beech trees planted to replace those that had not survived the Summer.
With wellies, spades and a cheery disposition all got stuck into planting the 421 saplings – digging, clearing and mulching all along the way. At the end of 3 hours the new planting was complete and looking right at home.
Volunteers are always welcome at the Great Shelford Village Charity. Our green space has so many opportunities throughout the year to get into nature as a team or an individual to join with others. If you’d like to get involved or find out more email [email protected]
With thanks to Carter Jonas and Cheffins for supporting us.
