A chilly January morning saw a motley crew of scouts, village college students, charity directors and assorted family members planting hundreds of willow cuttings in the charity’s community garden.
Given a year or two and some TLC, these will develop to form a shady retreat, ideal for nature classes, games of hide & seek and summer picnics.

This striking new addition to the garden was made possible thanks to a generous donation from The Great Shelford Co-op for the purchase of a willow kit. Our thanks go also to Will Bull for getting everyone organised and directing the morning’s work.

Villagers are welcome to visit the community garden and enjoy the fine views towards Magog Down. Access is via More’s Meadow – or the gate at the bottom of The Hectare – or from the DNA cycleway via the footbridge over the railway.
