Trustees of Great Shelford Parochial Charities attended last night’s meeting in the village hall concerning the Housing Need Survey Results Report for Great Shelford.

The report’s author, Mark Deas of Cambridgeshire Acre, highlighted the key finding, that Great Shelford needs 97 new affordable homes.

The meeting heard that one approach to delivering affordable housing is to establish a Rural Exception Site. The National Planning Policy Framework defines this as a small plot of land located on the fringe of an existing village where building a small number of homes would not over-burden existing infrastructure.

Following the meeting, the Trustees of Great Shelford Parochial Charities invited Mr Deas to their next meeting to review and discuss the various means of addressing the housing shortfall.
