“The Bishop’s gain is our loss,” lamented trustee Michael Pooles, on hearing fellow trustee Simon Talbott will be leaving us in the new year to take up the post of Senior Chaplain and Manager, working for the Bishop of Ely.
We will leave others – the parish council, the school, Playscape, the Feast, the church, not to mention numerous villagers – to chronicle the massive contribution Simon has made to village life. Suffice to say, he will be greatly missed here at the Parochial Charities.
Sarah Rann, Chair of Trustees, said “We owe Simon an enormous debt of gratitude for his tireless work at the charity, his invaluable input to our almshouse development programme, his liaison on our behalf with other village bodies and his guidance in negotiating a path through officialdom. Above all, we will miss his friendship, good humour and innate sense of what is right.”
