We are looking for expressions of interest from individuals wishing to join the board.
What does the charity do?
The Great Shelford Village Charity, with roots stretching back to the 16th century, is now run by GSVC Trustee Ltd and its six directors. We have 53 almshouses in the village, a mix of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom homes, and engage Redmayne Arnold & Harris to provide property management services. We also provide small grants, both for local good causes and villagers in need. Additionally, we own 6 acres of land on the edge of the village, managed for conservation and recreation.
What do our directors do?
The directors oversee everything the charity does, from setting strategy through to service delivery and financial management. While some provide professional expertise in areas such as accountancy or law, others bring managerial, pastoral or other life experiences.
We meet every 2 months for around 2 hours and directors sometimes take a lead role on a specific project. Typically, the commitment amounts to one or two days per month.
Directors are unpaid volunteers, undergo a basic DBS check, and take on legal and regulatory responsibilities similar to those of charity trustees.

What sort of person are we looking for?
We would be particularly interested to hear from individuals with professional fund-raising and/or company secretary/governance experience. That said, we would consider any candidate who can bring a fresh perspective coupled with a demonstrable commitment to the village and its residents.
